In particular, you should know how the protection of your personal data is guaranteed.

It is important to know that we only collect, process and use your personal data if you have consented to its use or if there is a legal basis for this.

This data privacy statement regulates the details and can be accessed, saved or printed out by you at any time for your information.

4. Collection, processsing and use of personal data

In some cases, we use external service providers to process your data. These have been carefully selected and commissioned by us, they are bound by our instructions and are regularly checked.

  • if you use the website for information only

It is generally possible to visit our website without providing any personal information. However, you leave behind your IP address and other data that your server transmits automatically, such as:

  • Date and time of access
  • Name and URL of the retrieved file
  • Amount of data transferred
  • Message whether the retrieval was successful
  • Identification data of the browser and operating system used

We use this data to establish a connection, to ensure system security, for technical administration of the network infrastructure and to optimize the internet offer. The data is automatically deleted after seven days. The IP address is only evaluated in the event of attacks on the network infrastructure.

  • if you use our contact form

If you contact us by e-mail or via the contact form, we only use the personal data you provide to process your specific request. Your data will then be deleted unless longer storage is required or permitted by law. Please do not send us any sensitive data (e.g. health data) using the contact form; use other means of communication for this.

  • if you use our online couselling service

The online counselling provided by the Studierendenwerk Koblenz is a free service that can be used largely anonymously. However, your IP address will be transmitted with this use, but only stored for up to 14 days in the event of a technical error (error log). The communication between you and our counsellors is end-to-end encrypted. You can use the public register of processing information of the technical service provider AYGOnet, Bonn, to find out more about data protection when using online counselling service:

https://aygonet.de/aygonet-2/datenschutz-in-aygonet

When registering, you will be asked to provide your own user name and password to ensure anonymity in order to access the encrypted counselling platform. You are responsible for protecting these login details from unauthorized access. Providing an email address is voluntary. If you enter your e-mail address, you will be informed by an automatically generated e-mail as soon as you have received an answer to your request on our counselling platform. In order to be able to read the content of the answer, however, it is necessary for you to log in to the counselling platform. It is ensured that the counsellors cannot read your e-mail address. Your request will be answered by the counsellors of the Studierendenwerk, who only know your user name and anonymous information about yourself as well as the content of your request.

Our counsellors are bound to secrecy. In the event of a clearly expressed announcement of a suicidal intention or the credible announcement of a criminal offense, however, we are obliged to call the police. All of the information you provide must then be forwarded to the responsible investigative authorities.

The correspondence is encrypted on the database of a secure server and is therefore protected from unauthorized access by third parties. All information in connection with a counselling session will be deleted after ten years.
